I'm Rob Stats Guerrera today's Monday, March 23rd, 26. Here's what's happening with your San Francisco 49ers. The biggest nineers related thing

happened over the weekend, and that was a flag football tournament. Christian McCaffrey and

Kyle Eusecichick participated in the flag football classic that also featured Kyle Shanahan as a coach

of one of the teams. Shanahan's team beat Tom Brady's team first, but could not handle the actual U.S.

flag football team losing in the championship 39 to 16.

Shanahan shouldn't feel too bad, though.

Nobody stopped Team USA.

Literally, they scored on every single possession of their three games except a kneel down

at the end of one victory. This just in flag football is not the same as regular tackle football.

Also on Friday, the 49ers decided not to exercise a $10 million option in Trent Williams contract.

That means his cap number in 2026 now increases to $47 million.

And if you're wondering, why would the 49ers do this?

The reason is because if they had paid the bonus, they would have had to guarantee some money in the final

year of Trent's contract and considering his age, they don't want to do that.

His base salary is set to be $22.21 million.

The Niners still plan on renegotiating the contract ahead of next month's draft.

Williams himself, remember, said in February he expects

something to get done with his contract this offseason and John Lynch said this at the scouting

combine. Here's what I know. Trent loves being a nineer. We love having Trent as a nineer.

And it's up to us to figure that out and to thread that needle. There's some unique circumstances in that we all know what Trent is as a player,

how great of a player he's been.
