0:00.0	Good morning. Welcome to 49ers and 5, your daily update on everything happening with the team that you need to know. I'm Rob Stats Guerrera. Today is Thursday, March 14th, 2024. Here's what's happening with your San Francisco 49ers.
0:21.7	John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan were very busy yesterday for a couple different reasons.
0:27.1	We'll start with the big move first.
0:29.5	The 49ers traded a seventh round draft pick to the Houston Texans for defensive tackle
0:34.1	Malik Collins.
0:35.5	Who is Malik Collins?
0:37.0	Well, he's 28 years old and he was 12th among
0:40.1	defensive tackles in pass rush win rate last year. And he was third in that category in 2022.
0:47.3	He can rush the passer from the defensive tackle spot. And because he was in Houston last year
0:52.3	with Tomeko Ryan's, we know he fits the 49ers system
0:55.8	well, and he's not expensive at all.
0:58.6	His cap hit this year is just going to be $8.47 million.
1:02.8	So the 49ers needed an upgrade at defensive tackle, and they got one with Malik Collins.
1:08.5	Now, John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan were also busy in another kind of way because word broke
1:13.6	on Wednesday morning, early, early Wednesday morning, like 3.15 a.m.
1:18.4	That Eric Kendricks, the linebacker, had agreed to a contract with the 49ers.
1:22.9	But yesterday evening we got word that he was backing out of that agreement with the 49ers and instead
1:28.8	reuniting with his old coach Mike Zimmer and going to the Dallas Cowboys. So unfortunately for
1:35.8	the 49ers, there's nothing they can do. None of these agreements before the contract is signed
1:40.7	are binding in any way. Players are free to change their mind if they want to.
1:44.6	Remember, Frank Gord once did that with the Philadelphia Eagles. These things happen.
1:49.1	It's unfortunate because he would have been a good pickup for the 49ers. It's just a solid
