Here's what's happening with your San Francisco 49ers.

With no game to focus on, let's instead give you a rooting guide

for the buy week. Of course, the Niners are a half game back of the Rams and the Seahawks in the

NFC West. According to the Athletic, however, the Niners have a 91% chance of making the playoffs

and a 10% chance of becoming the number one seed in the NFC. In case you're

wondering if the Niners were to win out, their chance of being the top seed jumps all the way up

to 65%. And let's all hope for that. As for this week specifically, of course, we are watching the Packers,

bears, Rams, and Seahawks. And basically, it boils down to this. And I'll try to give you the broad strokes first, and then we can get into the nitty-gritty. But if anybody loses, the Niners are going to move up in the playoff standings and considering the fact that the Packers and Bears play each other, somebody's going to lose. When that game is over, the Niners will be the sixth seed in the playoff standings. They will move up one spot. If the Packers win, the Bears, of course, would fall out of the number one seed and the Niners own the tiebreaker over them due to conference record. If the Bears win, the Niners jump over Green Bay due to overall record. And actually, even if they tie, the Niners would still pass the Packers

due to better overall records. So after that game is over, Niners of the sixth seed, hooray. Now,

in the NFC West, if Seattle and L.A. both win, the Rams would be atop the division. Seattle would be

second. The Niners would be third. If Seattle and L.A would be second, the Niners would be third.

If Seattle and L.A. both lose, the Niners would lead the NFC West due to tiebreakers and would jump up all the way to number two in the NFC. Obviously, that's not likely to happen, but that is what

would take place. If just the Rams lost, they would be nine and four. The

Niners would jump ahead of them because they have the tiebreaker thanks to better division

record. So the Niners would be the five seed. If the Seahawks lost, they would also be
