I'm Rob Stats Guerrera. Today is Wednesday, February 4th, 26. Here's what's happening with your San Francisco 49ers. Media week from the Super Bowl is

in full swing and there were plenty of interesting comments coming from Radio Row. Let's start with

Pro Football Talks Chris Sims, who was a guest of Matt Mayoko and gave his take on the Niners new

defensive coordinator. I love it for this reason.

I've been, the 49ers and Shanahan's defense has been rooted in the Seattle concept,

right? Seattle 3, the Press Bail 3, what we saw the Legion of Boom do.

Really every defensive coordinator he's had other than Steve Wilkes has been rooted in that scheme there.

Rahim has some roots there, but I think his defense is a little bit more diverse and not just

that. And that's where I'm excited because to me that will help out and maybe Super Bowls

against him a Holmes or whatever else to kind of go, hey, you know, yeah, we're really good at defense,

but we only really run these four or five, and that's all we do. And Rahim has a little bit more versatility to dial up, and I think that's going to help the 49ers. So where can Rahim Morris take the four-hanger's defense? Oh, I mean, I think that's where he can make it. I mean, And we've seen it be a top defense in football, right?

So I think we can get there, but I think where Rahim can take it. I mean, we've seen it be a top defense in football, right? So I think we can get there.

But I think where Rahim can take it to another level is big plays, big turnovers and big

moments by the defense in big games. Instead of going, man, our defense is good. It's kind of

bend don't break. I hope Bosa gets a sack or Fred Warner makes a play. He's going to create some plays for the defensive side of the ball. Instead of, as we've seen with the 40-9, well, I hope Shanahan can just drive them down again here and do that on the offensive side of the ball, right? So that's where I think it can make a difference. Robert Salas' defense only forced 16 takeaways last year. That was ninth worst in the NFL. So please let Rahim Morris help in that area.

Of course, we've been talking about Rahim for days since the news broke, but we haven't really heard much from the guys that are actually going to have to play in his defense next year.

One of those, of course, is Fred Warner, who also joined Matt Mayoko yesterday, and Fred gave a message to his new boss.

We're ready to work, man. You know, it's not a bunch of guys who are, you know, sitting their ways at all. I think I'm going into year nine and I'm ready to learn and adapt to whatever he's given to us. Right. So we're all ready to work. We're all hungry, right, to get back to being dominant and give ourselves a chance to win a

Super Bowl.

I hadn't really thought about that angle before, about how a new system, new fronts,

new schemes could sort of revitalize things for the veteran guys on this defense.
