Good morning. Welcome to 49ers in 5, your daily update on everything happening with the team that you need to know.

I'm Rob Stats Guerrera. Today is Tuesday, February 6th, 24. Here's what's happening with your San Francisco 49ers.

Last night was opening night, and it was a very pro 49ers crowd at Allegiance Stadium.

I was there with Levin Black, and we talked with multiple members of the 49ers,

starting with their defensive coordinator, Steve Wilkes.

And I asked him, does your defense have a chip on his shoulder after everybody was sort of talking

crap about them after the NFC championship game?

I don't know if it's really a chip because really I try to keep the focus on us and get us

to get back to the standard which I know we can play.

And it's all about just really competing against ourselves.

I feel if we play at a high love and do the things that we can do, there's no team that can beat us. They should have a chip on

their shoulder. And look, maybe they need that sort of extra little bit of juice to get back to the

level of intensity that we saw earlier this season. Speaking of that defense, had a chance to catch up with

Dre Greenlaw at opening night, and he said the team has specifically talked about stopping Patrick

Mahomes when he does decide to scramble. He's been a guy that we talked about as he's been a runner.

He wills a lot, but he's a competitive person, so he wants to run the ball. I mean,

it's just got to be kind of natural with instincts. It's kind of hard to practice it. We're aware

of it. We have talked about it, but he's not a slatter for the most part. Mahomes had a couple of big

runs against the Niners in Super Bowl 54, so hopefully they can put a lid on that.

He's hard enough to stop just throwing the ball.

Finally, one last person I talked with, and that's the kicker, Jake Moody.

And I wanted to know, Jake, if it came down to it, would you rather see the 49ers win the Super Bowl by 10?
