Welcome back to the quarter of the day show. I'm your hope shine cracks in the shine cracks in calm. We've got Robin Sharma on the show today and this clip is my favorite clip of the whole entire week. And we've had some good ones on this week.

And Robin is talking about genius. He's talking about bringing out the genius within you that genius is not something that's just born and developed overnight. It is something that is created by ourselves from within ourselves. And that takes the things that he's talking about today, such as deliberate practice, such as putting in your 10,000 hours, such as having rituals and a regimen for your life.

You know, people ask me, why do you wake up at 5 a.m. Because I'm on a routine. I'm on a routine that really works that take that's taking me closer to my genius.

Get up at 5, meditate. Go to the gym. Come on, when eat. Do on my work. Read for the rest of the day. Why do you read so many books because the knowledge that I attain or acquire from the books that I read is taking me closer and closer to my genius.

Revealing more and more of that genius every day, chopping away at that 10,000 hours every single day. I chop away at that 10,000 hours. I cannot not chip away at that 10,000 hours.

It's hard for me to not read throughout the day because when I read and I know that I'm developing my genius by doing that, it just brings so much more purpose into my life.

Why don't you answer the phone during the day? Why would I text you? You don't get back to me until later on that afternoon because I don't want any distractions because I'm working on my craft.

And if more of us did that, if more of us made that commitment, we would feel so much more fulfilled in our lives. We would feel like geniuses and when you feel like a genius, you become a genius. Here's Robin.

Success is so much more about installing the right mindsets, the right heart sets, the right routines and rituals, and the right exterior conditions, and then being in the right room with the right people.

I mean, if you study the work of Andrew Zericks and the pre-eminent researcher in the field of exceptional performance, you know Mozart.

So Mozart is an ingenious. No, the first 10 years of Mozart's compositions were mere curiosities.

It wasn't after 10 years. And by the way, it was Andrew Zerickson who popularized the 10,000 hour rule. And when many authors made it really famous.

But Andrew Zerickson. And he found that every great chess champion, every great athlete, every great entrepreneur, every great artist, every great author,

spent the equivalent of 10,000 hours toiling quietly on their craft before the first signs of genius showed up.

So genius is not about genetics. That is a seduction that society has told us to keep you small.

Genius is not about genetics. It's not about giftedness. Genius is about practice. And if you do the practice, you get the results.

Genius is also about your routines and your rituals. You look at the great athletes. It's not their skill. It's not their willpower.

It's they install the right rituals and routines to the point where their practice is automatic. You see how it works? Practice is the game changer.

Then you install the right rituals and routines to get the practice in. The researchers call it deliberate practice.

The A players don't do a regular type of practice. It's called deliberate practice. It's a type of practice where every day you go into your metaphorical gym and your practice is designed to make your craft incrementally better.
