Summary

494 Premium: If you’ve not experienced GolfBoard at your course yet, you will soon. Possibly the most innovative invention for golf in a long time, GolfBoard is a cross between a golf cart, a snowboard, a surfboard, and a skateboard that doesn’t impact the spirit or tradition of the game. We first brought you GolfBoard on the Golf Smarter podcast in 2013 months before it was introduced at the PGA Merchandise show, where it was awarded Best New Product of the Year. That’s why so many courses are now putting them into their fleets. The GolfBoard is an easy-to-ride vehicle allowing golfers of all ages to ‘Surf the Earth’. Jeff Dowell, President of GolfBoard joins us with an update on their latest technology, explosive growth, leasing vs purchasing,  and how well it’s been working for destination, private, and public courses. He also answers questions from the audience submitted via Periscope when the show was recorded. Guide to complete Golf Smarter LibraryFor exclusive content and first access check out Corrected Mistakes on Substack: https://substack.com/@correctedmistake  Learn more about your ad choices. surf the earth. Why don't you explain first what golf board is for those who've not, who've

been had their head in a golf hole. How can you have not seen golf board? It's coming on so

0:54.0

strong. It's so exciting. Oh, thank you. It has been

0:57.7

quite amazing the last year or so in particular. But really, golf board came from a genesis of an

1:02.7

idea where a avid surfer, Don Wildman about five years ago, decided he wanted to have a way to

1:09.5

take his morning surf experience and take it

1:13.1

to the golf course with him. And he started to build kind of electric longboard or purchase

1:18.7

electric longboard prototypes and make them so that they could be used on a golf course.

1:23.5

So after tires, spring suspension, carry a golf bag, the whole bit, and started to build a

1:29.1

series of prototypes. You got Laird Hamilton involved. Laird's a good buddy of his, who obviously

1:33.7

is a world-class surfer and has a history of pretty strong innovation. And Laird pulled in a few more

1:39.5

people, and they basically built a pretty amazing series of prototypes over the course of the next three or four years.

1:47.2

And 2014 PGA show, the product was officially launched.

One the product innovation and product of the year at the merchandising show.
