Summary

It's another big old bumper Empire Podcast this week. For reasons that are beyond our control (maybe have a word with S.P.E.C.T.R.E.), we're back on Squadcast, with Chris Hewitt, Helen O'Hara and James Dyer getting up very early (for them) to talk about the strangest places they've ever conducted interviews, discuss the week's 'fantastic' movie news, and review Sopranos spin-off The Many Saints Of Newark, David Lowery's long-awaited The Green Knight, and Everybody's Talking About Jamie. And, on the interview front, Chris has a good old natter with our favourite Variant, Sophia Di Martino, about her new movie, Sweetheart; Amon Warmann sits down for a chat with Alessandro Nivola about starring in The Many Saints Of Newark; and, in what's fast becoming a regular feature, we bring you brief excerpts from our spoiler special interviews with Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings director, Destin Daniel Cretton, and writer Dave Callaham. And if you still haven't seen it and wish to remain spoiler-free, they're right at the end of the show. But whatever you're listening to on this week's show, enjoy.

All the Empire Podcasts wig, bada bing! The Sopranos are back! And we talked to Alessandro

0:22.1

Nevola, star of the many saints of Newark, the Soprano as prequel, while Sofia Di Martino,

0:27.9

who has nothing to do with the Sopranos, pops by to talk Yorkshire Putins and her new film,

0:32.8

Sweetheart. All that and more on the movie Podcasts had a birthday last week and is now officially

0:39.4

old enough to play Evan Hansen. Hello pod, I'm Chris Hewitt, welcome to the Empire Podcast.

0:46.4

You may hear something slightly different in our tone this week. Yes, after one week,

0:50.9

back, after one week back in the podcast studio, we decided we couldn't stand each other.

0:58.8

It was a bit like a band that has lots of empathy just reuniting after 20 years and going,

1:05.9

oh, I know actually it really hated you, didn't I? We are the Eagles. I couldn't think of a band

1:12.0

because the Beatles never reformed. The Eagles were the ones who said that they'd reform when

1:16.8

hell froze over and then did a hell freeze is over today. Oh, did they? Okay, that's good.

1:21.6

That's good. And then obviously, uh, Fleetwood Mac, I think that's an appropriate move of the

1:26.1

years as well, haven't they? And, uh, yeah, but that's not going to get into that because this

1:29.6

isn't a musical podcast. This is the Empire Podcast, but as you may hear, we're not in the studio,

1:34.0

we're back on squadcast. I think for one week only, and it's nothing to do with personal gripes,

1:41.2

or anything like that. It's a blame James Bond. Basically, essentially, is the actual reason

1:48.2

why we're doing this at 8 30 AM on Thursday morning, because when we do the podcast, when we're

1:55.6

meant to do the podcast in studio, I'm interviewing James Bond. So something I had to give,

2:01.8

what are you going to do? Why are you going to do? I feel like Bond probably should have just,

2:07.4

you know, rescheduled himself. Well, I should say, sorry, Mr. Daniel Craig, can you do a 30

2:12.5

in a morning while I go in to do the podcast? In fact, you know, why don't you come into the studio

2:17.9

in Camden? I mean, because it's, it's a glamorous, glamorous place. It would very much suit him.
