While current statistics from the rape, abuse, and incest national network state that every 68 seconds someone in America

is sexually assaulted. And that's just sobering. Sexual assault is a very real and very

heartbreaking reality and it's extremely widespread. When we consider how widespread sexual

assault actually is, we have to explore what

could be causing it and how, as a culture, we are contributing to it. Well, in today's

episode, I'm joined by Dr. John Fobbert. John is the author of 11 books, including

protecting your children from internet pornography, understanding the science, risks, and ways to

protect your kids. He has spent decades speaking about the harms of pornography and how to end

sexual violence at colleges, military bases, high schools, and churches. John has a lot of wisdom to share,

along with some pretty eye-opening statistics and research on this topic.

And I think the conversation we're having today is one that will really help you, whether you're a man or woman, trying to make sense of all this, or a parent trying to find a way to guide your kids through the current sexual climate.

Hey, John. Welcome to Jabba with Julie. Thanks so much for being a guest.

Thank you for having me. It's a deep honor. Yeah. Well, John, you've spent the majority of your

professional career around issues of, if I can say it this way, really sexual pain, sexual exploitation and

combating pornography. And you do so really from more of a scientific or research

standpoint than clinical. And I just wonder if you would tell us a little bit about how you

got into that particular field. Well, it's an untraditional way.

I had gotten a master's degree in psychology

and started working on a college campus.
