| 0:45.0 | The department is undertaking this effort at Commission Direction. |
| 0:49.0 | The commission understands that it's increasingly important for the public to understand and support the |
| 0:53.4 | department's mission to conserve and protect wildlife in Arizona. Wildlife |
| 0:58.6 | management's not done in a vacuum. The public has a great deal of influence on |
| 1:02.4 | operations and priorities. |
| 1:04.0 | And an informed public can understand how the department operates, why it does the things that it does, |
| 1:09.0 | and even offer constructive insight, like we're asking for you to do now. |
| 1:14.0 | When the public's informed, they can advocate for conservation. |
| 1:18.0 | Though people appreciate wildlife in many ways and generally agree that it enhances their quality of life. |
| 1:24.0 | Many don't understand the need for wildlife management or what the department does to fulfill its responsibility to manage over 800 species of wildlife in the state. |
| 1:34.7 | In initial surveys prior to the launch of the Department's Conserve and Protect campaign in 2015, |
| 1:40.0 | only a quarter of individuals surveyed correctly identified the Arizona Game and Fish Department as managing and conserving Arizona's wildlife, |
| 1:48.0 | and a not insignificant number of those didn't get our name quite right either. |
