That little ditty right there is from a song called Bright Side of the Sun by Band.

This is a special episode with Brian Callan.

I recorded this when I was in L.A. a few months ago.

And Brian and I sat down and before we went out to dinner that night we talked about what he was going through.

Brian was and is in legal proceedings that are provoked by accusations a woman made about a situation that supposedly happened about 20 years ago where she claims that Brian forced himself upon her.

Brian claims that's totally absurd and it got picked up in the press and it led to Brian having serious professional difficulties.

He was on TV shows.

He had comedy dates and it sort of all got tied up in the middle of the COVID thing too.

We had a lot of performers who were facing financial difficulties because they couldn't perform but this also affected Brian's situation.

I don't know the details.

I don't want to talk about the details because I don't want to say anything that could cause any kind of difficulties for Brian.

I just listened to this whole episode trying to make sure that we didn't say anything that could affect that litigation and I didn't hear anything.

So I think we're okay.

Brian kindly and generously gave me permission to use this because he is talking about the situation publicly now.

At the time we recorded he was just his lawyer told him just shut up, don't say anything and so we were respecting that.

But it's generally I think the conversation is very much philosophical.

It's about the issues around the sort of cancel culture and the positives and the negatives of the Me Too movement and the nuance and difficulty around these situations.

I think we both recognize and say quite explicitly that there's no easy answer to these things.

When a woman accuses a man of serious crime that has to be taken seriously.

But there are problems with accusing someone of a crime that supposedly took place 20 years ago and then having the repercussions of that accusation cause immeasurable damage.
