0:22.0	We owe it to ourselves to care about our own contradictions.
0:26.0	We owe it to others with whom we're arguing to continue to point out their internal contradictions.
0:34.0	This is actually the most compelling criticism of another person's view.
0:38.0	It's one thing to say, if we're arguing about religion or climate change, whatever it is.
0:44.0	If I'm pointing to facts over there that you don't acknowledge,
0:49.0	it's a very weak argument.
0:51.0	I can't make a lot of a headway with you.
0:53.0	If I can show you the way in which your own assumptions are in conflict with themselves,
0:59.0	that you actually can't functionally believe what you say you believe,

1:05.0	You can believe that one thing on Monday and another thing on Tuesday,
1:08.0	but if you try to get the Monday truths and the Tuesday truths to cohere,
1:11.0	you're actually in contradiction with yourself.
1:14.0	That's a much more powerful rebuttal to you.
1:17.0	That's where people have the bias, so they just won't admit it.
1:22.0	There's ways, I think, when you isolate these cognitive biases and how it affects you,
1:26.0	there's ways to overcome them a little bit.
