0:15.7	You know, whenever you feel frustrated in life and whenever you look around and you say
0:19.5	what is going on in your life is crazy, you have to kind of go back internally and just
0:25.3	rationally ask yourself, well where can I find meaning in my life?
0:28.7	That's what I get out of your book.
0:30.3	I think a lot of people sit there, sit being their coffee, reading the newspaper and thinking,
0:36.0	you know, I'm going to be really active about climate change.
0:39.2	Yeah.
0:40.2	They come up with this artificial thing that's going to provide meaning for them.
0:43.4	Like what would you prescribe about how you can find some meaning?
0:47.8	Well, so this is a little bit of the paradox of hope that I talk about.
0:52.0	Is that one of the things that generates hope for us is conflict.
0:57.5	When you create a society that's devoid of serious conflict when nobody's life is threatened,
1:03.7	our brain naturally starts seeking conflict because that's the easiest way to generate hope.
1:08.2	You make this distinction between the thinking brain and the feeling brain.
1:12.4	So the thinking brain can say, intellectually I know I need to find hope, I need to find meaning,
1:17.6	but I think it takes a lot of practice for that feeling brain to really sort of absorb this message
1:24.9	and do it.
1:25.9	Yeah, we're all messed up.
1:28.1	You know.
