Summary

Here to talk about the psychology of money – sans the BS – is Ramit Sethi. A finance entrepreneur who actually meets you exactly where you are, Ramit helps you create the rich life you deserve – the one your bank told you that you couldn’t have.  Setbacks don’t have to mean cutbacks. Ramit gives you the permission to rewrite the money rules that have kept you prisoner in your own life. His book, I Will Teach You to Be Rich, changed K + L’s lives, and now he has turned his focus to how money conversations unfold in relationships on his brand new podcast, I Will Teach You to Be Rich by Ramit Sethi, launching August 4th. Thanks to his no-nonsense approach to finance, couples have given him access to their accounts to untangle the money issues that play out in relationships.  Ramit’s approach helps you rewire the relationship you have with your bank account, but, more importantly, he’ll help you reframe your money mindset in life and within your relationships. We also talk about: Why he decided to launch a podcast about money and relationships The importance of dreaming big  Anxiety about money  Guilt-free spending  Creating a plan that fits your lifestyle  Gendered patterns around money  Growing your assets  Resources: Podcast: I Will Teach You to Be Rich  Read: I Will Teach You to Be Rich Website: I Will Teach You to Be Rich  Instagram: @ramit Join our community: almost30.com/membership facebook.com/Almost30podcast/groups Podcast disclaimer can be found by visiting: almost30.com/disclaimer.  Find more to love at almost30.com! 0:37.1

during the transition from our 20s to our 30s where we felt super lost and we felt like

0:41.2

there's got to be more to life. And now almost 30 is meant to help support you in your conscious

evolution, whether that's conversations about money or conversations about sex and love or spirituality.

We are here to be your guides and your friends along the way. Yeah. And I was thinking about

0:56.1

six years ago and particularly thinking about money and that money mindset, like where the

1:01.5

fuck was I? And it was bleak. Yeah. I was just say, probably like $9,000 of debt than I think

1:08.6

after quitting my job trying to pursue everything full time. Yeah. I was just like in a constant loop of

1:16.4

not knowing where my next track was going to come from. And then like having to obviously catch up

1:21.7

and pay the bills and pay things that I had put on my credit card and it was I just never felt

1:26.9

like I could get above water. You know what I was just I just realized is that was very expansive

1:31.3

thing for me in money was actually serving. And when I served in Ohio growing up in Ohio, I served

1:37.7

from the time I was 14 at the place in my neighborhood and then eventually this the chicken joint

1:44.4

down the street. But it was one of those things that showed me and taught me that the harder I work

1:48.4

the more money I make. And you know, that's if I think about it now from the perspective that I have,

1:53.3

I don't know if that's the best mentality I'd have that you have to work really, really hard all

1:57.6

of the time to earn. But it helped me to realize that there really was no limit if I was really

2:03.2

willing to willing to put in the work. And I feel like that was like the what clicked for me.
