Over the course of the next couple of podcasts, I'm going to be sharing two talks that I gave

at a women's conference last weekend at Bethel Baptist Church in Fairbanks, Alaska.

This first talk is called Pretty Little Lies.

It's so great to be back.

I love Alaska.

I love flying all night and getting here at three in the morning and being greeted by

giant taxidermied grizzly bears and polar bears in the airport.

There is nothing like it.

I love it.

In my introduction, she mentioned that I went through a time of doubt and I'm going to

share that story in greater detail a little bit later.

But first, what I want to do is talk about what this conference is all about and that is

Pretty Little Lies.

We all see these lies.

With the invention of the internet, there is no place you can go that's so remote that

you are insulated from the messages that are in popular culture all over.

It used to be you'd have to go somewhere to find something out or go to the library and

check out a book.

But we live in a time now where any information that you could possibly dream of is at your

fingertips and at our kids' fingertips as well.

We are bombarded with information all the time and it can be confusing sometimes because
