The following is a compilation of over four hours of allegedly true and scary small-town stories I've told in the past.

0:08.0

Because small towns make for one of the most unsettling locations apparently.

0:13.0

Enjoy, and don't forget to send me your scary stories of the unexplained at darkstories.org, so I can aerate them.

0:21.0

Also, be sure to catch my other podcast, Tales from the Breakroom, where I narrate work-related horror stories.

0:29.0

Now, let's begin.

0:35.0

Possible Werewolf Encounter in Jamestown, Colorado.

0:39.0

Collected by C. Philly 100.

0:43.0

First off, I'd just like to say it's fascinating how many of these types of stories come out of Colorado.

0:49.0

But I think the reasons for that are two-fold.

0:52.0

One, the high-human population density living so close to vast wilderness areas.

0:57.0

And two, the percentage of that population whose hobbies and passions take them deep out into the backcountry of this beautiful wild state that is Colorado.

1:06.0

This story happened to two of my best friends, C. and P, out on the Old Bar-K Ranch, where we all used to live up in Jamestown, Colorado.

1:16.0

But don't be fooled by the name. This isn't your grandfather's cattle ranch.

1:20.0

No, the Old Bar-K covers thousands of acres of rugged mountain terrain.

1:25.0

Steep rocky cliffs and jagged granite spires like citadels or centuries, standing guard to either side of James Creek, as it snakes its way down the unforgiving canyon.

1:36.0

It's such a wild place.

1:38.0

You can almost imagine the Native Americans living and hunting out here, as truly very little has changed since then.

1:46.0

We used to have mock battles, whereupon we would try to sneak up on each other with snowballs, which probably wasn't the wisest idea after all.

1:54.0

As we later spoke with a forest ranger who told us that there is a rather robust mountain lion population living in that area, and that they've evolved to live in prides of sorts, similar to those of African lions.

2:06.0

And we would see lots of tracks too, including Cougar, Bobcat, Coyote and Bear tracks, not to mention SCAT.

2:14.0

Wolves have also made their way back down into northern Colorado as well, and there's a known pack not too far away from there.

2:21.0

The town of James itself, originally called Jimstown after Jim Smith, an early pioneer, is an old gold mining town, and modern home to the Mercantill Cafe.
