It is the fifth year in the reign of Karkaure Senusaret the third, the fifth ruler of Dynasty 12 and one of Egypt's most famous kings.

In his first few years, Karkaure initiated no less than two major building projects, in the form of a pyramid at Tashur in the north, and a hidden tomb in the south at Abidos. Two lands, two tombs, one king.

While this was going on, the social demographic of Egypt was shifting slightly. Populations were on the move from distant rural communities towards the royal centers at Etchatawi and Lahoon.
