Summary

This week Ben review's Carnival Carnival Line's newest and hottest cruise ship, Carnival Vista. Ben sailed on a six-night Western Caribbean cruise that went to Cozumel, Ocho Rios, and Grand Cayman. We get a comprehensive review of the ship, what he did once on board, the cruise ship dining, and entertainment. Ben also touches on some cool excursions he did while in the Western Caribbean.

If you have a gluten free allergy, chances are you have to be very careful with what you eat - and being on a cruise is no exception. Lauren has a gluten allergy and joins us to talk about what it's like sailing with a gluten free allergy and how the cruise lines accommodate her.

Hey, what's up? My name is Doug Parker. Thanks for checking out this episode of Cruise Radio, a review of Carnival Vista, and talking about sailing with a gluten-free allergy. Very popular these days. In fact, I've been getting a lot of questions about it lately. I myself, I like to eat. I like to eat everything. I'm not gluten-free. So I have Lauren with us, and she'll be here in a couple of seconds to answer some gluten-free questions when it comes to sailing with dietary restrictions. Also, Ben from crucefever.net with us to review Carnival Vista before we get to both of these fine people. I do want to remind you of all the posts we've been doing at cruiserrady.com. We have a search box there on the upper left-hand side.

1:23.9

who aren't familiar with a gluten allergy and myself, what exactly is it?

1:28.2

So gluten is a protein that's found primarily in wheat, barley, and rye. And for those who have

1:35.6

a gluten intolerance or celiacs disease, which is basically a gluten allergy, it can cause

1:41.9

digestive and skin reactions. So those who have an allergy or intolerance

1:47.3

need to follow a gluten-free diet to kind of avoid those side effects. So it pretty much

1:53.1

rules out wheat, barley, and rye. So that means no beer? Yes, unfortunately. Now, there are

1:59.4

a few gluten-free beers out there, and I know Carnival does have one gluten-free beer on their drink menu. And then also kind of as a beer substitute, there's all of the ciders that are popular now, the hard ciders, like Angry Orchard and some of those. So if you want to drink, you can, but it's a little bit harder to find a wide variety of

2:21.8

gluten-free beers.

2:23.0

It seems like 75% or 80% of the food on the ship will have some kind of gluten in it.

2:29.1

So what kind of pre-cruised research did you have to do before you sailed?

2:32.8

So I had taken a few cruises before I had been diagnosed with celiac disease.
