Java with Julie is a listener-supported podcast and is an outreach of authentic intimacy, a ministry

dedicated to reclaim God's design for sexuality.

Well, on today's conversation, I want to share some thoughts on what has recently happened

within the Southern Baptist Convention, the abuse that has taken place, the cover-up,

the men who were not held accountable for their abuse of power.

After a third-party investigation, all of these things were publicized in an exhaustive and heartbreaking report that was released just a few weeks ago.

Now, this conversation is not about healing from abuse, although that is a very important topic that we have addressed on other job with Julie episodes.

Today I want to talk about what we need to do differently, starting now to prevent this kind of abuse from happening again.

Today with me is Brian Dallin. Brian is a friend of mine with Moody Radio and he agreed to

help me flesh out some of the thoughts that I'd like to share with you. You can find some of

these same thoughts in writing and a blog that I wrote called Five Ways the Church Must Step Up in

in response to sexual abuse within his walls. We'll also link to my book Rethinking Sexuality,
