April at 630 there was a public meeting with conserve and protect Arizona and I went down to check it out and they allowed

Well let's go ahead and get started. I'm not anticipating there's going to be a flood to fill these seats so we might as well get ourselves

going in this discussion. Some of you, in fact most of you have heard this or

have heard of bits and pieces of it.

Very simply, we found ourselves in a situation

where it was impossible to raise enough funds to carry on a traditional campaign

to try to defeat the Humane Society if they were able to qualify their initiative for the ballot.

So with that in mind, we had to find an alternative.

And working with Commissioner Davis and one of his people that he regularly works with, petition partners, Drew Chavez.

We formulated a plan to keep them from obtaining enough signatures.

And it was a little bit of a gamble,

but desperate people do desperate things.

And the way I look at that was it was something

that with the players we had could work and we invested in it,

went forward with it, and it worked to perfection. In fact, I would not have bet that they would have closed their doors until early

July when they had to turn in their signatures, but they simply weren't making enough money.
