O Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory above the heavens.
2 Out of the mouth of babies and infants,
you have established strength because of your foes,
to still the enemy and the avenger.
3 When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,
4 what is man that you are mindful of him,
and the son of man that you care for him?
5 Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings
and crowned him with glory and honor.
6 You have given him dominion over the works of your hands;
you have put all things under his feet,
7 all sheep and oxen,
and also the beasts of the field,
8 the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea,
whatever passes along the paths of the seas.
9 O Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!

| 0:08.0 | get your mind aligned with the truth of God and I have got a treat for you today |
| 0:12.4 | one of my favorite Psalms in all of the Bible, |
| 0:15.9 | Psalm chapter 8. And it's one of my favorites because of how it makes much of God. |
| 0:22.7 | And you would kind of expect that from the Bible, right? |
| 0:25.0 | You would expect it to make much of God. |
| 0:27.8 | But this one does so in a way that honestly just stirs my soul. |
| 0:33.0 | It draws this picture of who God is and what he is like and how majestic he is, |
| 0:40.0 | that's the word the Psalm uses, that I think it's so beneficial for us to stop |
| 0:46.4 | so right now just stop clear your mind for a moment and prepare yourself to receive what it is that God has to reveal to you today. |
| 0:56.9 | Because scripture is often called God's revelation to us. |
| 1:01.2 | See, he's revealing things that we wouldn't know otherwise and in this case he's |
| 1:06.1 | revealing things about himself and about us. Let's read in Psalm chapter 8. It says, oh Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth. |
| 1:28.4 | You have set your glory above the heavens. Let's stop for a moment. |
| 1:33.0 | I love it that he says, oh Lord, our Lord. And you can't see it in the way that I'm saying this, |
| 1:36.1 | but what it literally says is, |
| 1:38.2 | oh, Yahweh, the name of God, our Lord. So it's saying, Yahweh, you are our Lord, you are our God. And your name is majestic. Now think of that. We use |
| 1:50.1 | the word majestic to refer to something amazing like the Grand Canyon or the mountains or the ocean or perhaps some geological formation or the stars in the sky. |
| 2:02.0 | And he's saying God's name is majestic in all the earth. |
| 2:06.9 | It is greater than any of those things. And it says you have set your glory above the heavens. |
| 2:14.3 | So even the most beautiful starry night out in the middle of the desert |
| 2:18.2 | where there's no other light pollution to dilute what you're seeing. |
