Hey everybody, welcome to another episode of Beyond the Blinds.

As always, it's Kelly and Troy.

We wanted to start this episode by obviously acknowledging what the hell is going on in the

world right now and just like how scary and sad and intense it is to be on social media

or to have children or loved ones or people that you care about out in the world and like wondering

if they're going to be fucking shot by some psycho racist freak and we just want to acknowledge

that at the start of this episode that like we understand that this podcast is an escape for people

and that we're just we get it and we're I mean we're both like panic scrolling Twitter

in between recording and I just want to take a second and thank the teachers who are who are listening

you know at this point it's like you guys are on the front lines every day and you're in

you're there to you know shape students and you shouldn't have to worry but if someone's

going to bust into your your your classroom and you know even what was it 14 days ago with the

grocery store it's it's a lot and you know we we try to stay away from all of that with this

podcast but Troy and I didn't think we could do that this week you know we are not meant to consume

this much chaos constantly and if you need to cry it out cry it out like I just everyone should

own their feelings right now and really feel them and let yourself go through the motions because

this is not normal this is not a normal experience that people should have unfortunately it's becoming

a normal thing but Troy and I just want to say you know we're thinking of everyone who's been

affected by gun violence ever um and you know teachers and I don't know I don't know what to say

because it's school shootings it's also shootings in grocery stores and at churches and you know

I don't want to be afraid to go into the world yeah but it's fucking scary it's fucking scary

and like you said it's like it's a really dark thought to think like you know an elementary school
