We tend to say, "Yes, but not that." Any attachment can ultimately be unhealthy, that is, if our goal is unqualified happiness.

Welcome to the happiness podcast. I'm Dr. Robert Puff. Do you ever wonder why everything

can be going well? It can be a really good day, maybe even a good week, even a good month.

Which for some of us doesn't happen very often, but when what happens, we notice it, and it's wonderful.

But then it doesn't last.

Why is that?

Maybe you're someone who's always wanted to be a mom

and you finally have that first baby and initially everything is truly wonderful.

But then fear start creeping in.

Things start making you worried. and you wonder what happened I so much wanted to be a

mom and yet now I'm not happy what's causing this or let's say you worked really hard to accomplish your goals and you've made

it. You now live in a beautiful home with a lovely family and there's not too many

worries about finances anymore because you have a good

stream of income coming in and yet you're unhappy why is that or let's say you've worked really hard, you've saved your money, you paid

off your home, and now you've reached a point where you can retire. You get a form of a pension,

social security, a little bit extra money for traveling, and all seems well.

And yet, in the back of your mind, you're still not happy. What's causing this? It has to do all about attachments. Attachments

are things that we want in order to be happy. So our happiness is very much based on our attachments. If we're attached

to something, we need them there, and if they're not there, we're going to be unhappy.

So let's go back to the three examples I just gave and the first one this woman has

her first child something she'd wanted her entire life she's reached her

goal she's reached her attachment she hasn't now. But here is where the attachments

creak been. She's now attached to her child living a full life, a healthy life,
