week's most Monday minute is going to be just a minute that it is a very, very impactful tip.

And that is a really great tip for Foley catheter insertion in your

female patients. So I learned this tip from interviewing urologist, Dr. Seigal. And if you want to

learn more from Dr. Seagal, check out episode 321. He is a urologist and he came on the podcast to share

a bunch of great tips about Foley catheters. Here was my favorite. If you place a bedpan

upside down under the patient's hips right there under the buttocks, this helps lift that urethra for better visualization and much,

much easier Foley catheter insertion. It's also really helpful to have a very bright light.

So you might think pen light, but the pen lights that we use to shine into patient's eyes really aren't

going to be bright enough for what you want get a flashlight and have a friend at the ready

in case you do need an extra set of hands but that bedpan trick placing it upside down underneath

the buttocks is a total game changer.
