Summary

Join a powerful conversation with Samir Mourani, entrepreneur and host of the men's mental health podcast Gents Talk, as we explore the evolving dynamics of modern masculinity and emotional expression. Samir opens up about his personal journey through crisis and the challenges men face in articulating their emotions, particularly in a culture that often equates vulnerability with weakness. Together, we discuss the societal pressures that stifle emotional growth, the impact of male role models, and the troubling rise of figures who capitalize on men feeling lost or disconnected while bypassing deeper emotional work. Samir shares his mission to create spaces where men can openly discuss their mental health, encouraging healthy dialogues that pave the way for emotional intelligence and genuine connection. Samir Mourani is an entrepreneur/digital creator, speaker (TEDx), host/producer of Gent's Talk, a men's mental health and wellness podcast in the top 5% globally (per Spotify) and a partnership onboard Air Canada & the Editor of Gent's Post, a men's lifestyle publication.   —Samir’s Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/samirmourani  —Samir’s LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/samir-mourani-53826057/  —Samir’s TEDx Talk: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0tQSvX6lLZk&ab_channel=TEDxTalks  —Samir’s Podcast Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/1QyZB4hdjJrqiealqW0tJy  —Samir’s Podcast YT: https://www.youtube.com/c/GentsPost  —Samir’s Podcast Apple: https://podcasts.apple.com/sa/podcast/gents-talk/id1660149891  If you want to dive deeper into Mark’s content, search through every episode, find specific topics we’ve covered, and ask him questions, go to his Dexa page: https://dexa.ai/markgroves Themes: Men's Mental Health, Modern Masculinity, Emotional Expression for Men, Breaking Masculinity Stereotypes, Vulnerability in Men, Healthy Masculinity, Men and Emotional Intelligence, Mental Health for Men, Masculinity and Mental Health Awareness, Gents Talk Podcast, Samir Mourani, Mark Groves, Men’s Emotional Growth, Crisis and Emotional Healing for Men, Building Emotional Connections in Men This episode is sponsored by Cozy Earth: Use code MARK for 40% off sitewide at http://www.cozyearth.com Contact us at podcast@markgroves.com for sponsor product support, questions, comments, or just to say hello!Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands

For a lot of men, I find in all the work that I've been doing, there's a sense of hesitation

0:05.0

that if I were to express myself in a way that's completely unusual to me and to those who know me,

0:11.0

that I'm going to be othered. I'm going to be placed into a box and pointed at and laughed at,

0:16.0

like a circus animal. And that fear prevents men from wanting to engage. I believe most men want to have these

0:23.4

conversations. Like fear can make your mind go into really, really wild places and oftentimes the

0:28.7

imagination will run rampant and that will never really match reality. But once you can find a way

0:34.4

to overcome that fear, you're able to actually realize it's not so scary.

0:38.3

And you'll find other men who feel the same way, and they'll embrace you for it.

I think this conversation about men and masculinity is one that needs to continue to be had because there's, I don't know that we actually spend enough

1:29.0

time actually really exploring the intricacies and, and providing context to why men go through

1:36.2

what we go through, especially relationally. So I'm curious what motivated you to create the

1:42.2

podcast and get into men's work. Is it something that you were always like, I can't wait.
