What can science really tell us about monogamy?

I'm Si Kellet, your host.

And among the things you might find yourself having to defend

as a Catholic, as a Christian person,

or maybe just as a religious person in general,

is the idea of faithfulness in marriage.

That is the idea that marriage

is the permanent relationship of a man and woman,

and it's intended to be faithful,

and it's actually good for us to be faithful to one another.

There are good philosophical, maybe even scientific reasons

for us to be faithful to one another.

Well, Fox Media has an explainer out,

and they explain that maybe our understanding of monogamy

is completely wrong, and human beings were not made

to be monogamous.

I'm using the word explain quite loosely here.

We wanted to get into that a little bit.

Is that what science teaches?
