Why I decided to go 365 days, ALL of this year, without any alcohol.
I don’t have a ‘problem ‘ with alcohol by any stretch of the imagination, but I identified I was at a point in my life where it wasn’t serving me.
I’d been considering it for a while, but I wasn’t ready to let go of my beloved red wine and cocktails until I decided to set a higher standard for my life.
This year I’m on a mission to live my best life which means a lot of self-reflection on what is truly important—being in good energy and tapping into my inner spirit!
2022 has been a year of excitement and learnings so far, so I thought I’d share my alcohol-free experience for anyone who may need some motivation!

0:10.0 | adventurer and I've been on the podcast before with the wonderful Ellie sharing my story |
0:15.0 | of the last eight years of being a professional athlete, a broker now an entrepreneur and the |
0:20.1 | power of a break from alcohol. And as part of that story, Ellie and I discussed, we found out |
0:25.6 | that Ellie was taking her own alcohol-free adventures. She's now four months in, so we thought it |
0:30.6 | might be a good time to explore and turn the tables and find out how Ellie's been getting on |
0:37.4 | on her very own alcohol-free adventure. So great to have you back all be in with different |
0:44.1 | different ends of the spectrum this time. This is going to be so much fun. Yeah, it's strange, |
0:48.8 | isn't it? Putting the tables back on me and you're in the hot seat today and as much as I know you |
0:54.0 | love it and the podcast is fantastic and you're very opinionated on the podcast, it's going to be |
0:58.5 | really nice, I think, for your listeners to hear a bit more of your story on a particular topic. |
1:04.4 | That is alcohol because it is one of those topics that I think lots of people are confused by. |
1:08.8 | There's lots of stigma around and I think just to kick it off really, what would be nice really |
1:13.9 | is to establish your relationship with alcohol because I know it's very much like mine as a middle |
1:19.1 | lane drinker in many ways. I think we can fall into the trap of assuming anyone that wants to have a |
1:23.4 | conversation about alcohol and stopping drinking alcohol must have a problem and that's actually not |
1:27.7 | the case in both our stories, in both our stories. It's very much about wellness, it's about |
1:32.8 | performance, it's about connection and doing something that's a bit of a challenge so I'm super |
1:38.3 | excited. You've had the courage to do this with me today. So I thought what we might do is just go |
1:43.4 | back, let's take it all the way back to when you first started your relationship with alcohol. |
1:50.0 | Well, it was 25 years ago. That's insane. I know, I know, I just don't look old enough. |
