October 28th Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says the second stage of

war against Hamas has begun. This is our second independence ward. We're going to

Israel says it struck several Hamas targets in Gaza as part of its expanded ground operation as explosions continue.

Palestinians say it's the most intense round of bombing since the war began.

Many families in Gaza are unable to reach each other because of a

communications blackout and health workers struggle to help the wounded. The

Israeli military is reissuing calls for residents in northern Gaza to evacuate south.

The ground expansion has left the fate of more than 200 hostages unclear.

A group lobbying for their families is worried that Israel's operation will put the hostages in danger.

Meanwhile, police arrested more than 300 people in New York.

After demonstrators from a Jewish group called for a ceasefire.

Pro-Palestinian protesters in London are also calling for a ceasefire.
