3D printing has the potential to revolutionize the fashion industry

to make it more sustainable for the environment and potentially for your wallet.

That's according to our guest today, Dana Thomas.

She's a best-selling author who just released a new book,

Fashionopoulos, The Price of Fast Fashion and the Future of Clothes. And here's what she says the Future of fast fashion and the future of clothes.

I was told by several different people that in the future we won't be buying things.

We'll be buying links like Amazon won't send us stuff they'll send us a link and then we can

print it at home on our 3D printer can you imagine and I thought well that's kind of

interesting in a sustainability way because then we're printing as much as we need.

We're printing what we buy.

There isn't that whole economies of scale where we're producing a hundred billion garments a year but we're only buying

eighty billion and there's twenty billion left over that are just incinerated or

thrown in landfill just waste pure waste because it's cheaper to produce a hundred

than it is to produce 80.
