| 1:12.5 | Even though everyone in this room and everyone watching has different definitions of happiness, |
| 1:16.4 | that if I ask you on a scale of 1 to 10, how happy you felt over the past two weeks, |
| 1:21.6 | most of us can kind of put ourselves on that spectrum. |
| 1:24.2 | We can put ourselves somewhere on that range. |
| 1:28.8 | What we found is that even though that's a subjective experience, if I go into a hospital |
| 1:33.0 | and with a broken arm, there's no pain meter that can hook me up to that automatically |
| 1:37.0 | means that I'm experiencing an 8 out of 10 on a pain scale. |
| 1:42.3 | The same thing is true with happiness. |
| 1:43.7 | That we treat people based upon the pain that they actually experience and we can actually |
| 1:47.5 | study people based upon their subjective experience of happiness that they're experiencing |
