If we borrow the language of the Apostle Paul in Second Timothy, you could describe the

current church as having a form of godliness been denying its power. Now what you need to know and I need

to know and we cannot release is that this is not always been our story. We are a people with a Christian heritage.

Now that gives me great hope because God's in the business of restoring people.

And if we understand where we have been, it makes it much easier to imagine that God could restore

that biblical worldview to his people.

For our offatory prayer this morning, I want to ask you to join me and praying this Christmas season. You know, for many, you have traditions and habits and things you enjoy and foods you look forward to and gatherings that are part of the

holiday. But there's always a group of people when we get to this time of year for whom it's a very great challenge.

Let's simply say those with broken hearts because this year they lost someone or there

was a tremendous disruption in their life for a disappointment.

Something happened that broke the momentum, it feels like at least.

And this time of the year is especially difficult because you're reflecting back or remembering

other holidays that were different.
