May you be reminded, may you be reminded that you have a God who comes to you in the midst of your storms. He meets you in the midst of your

doubts. He'll help you face your disappointments. You know, we're walking our way through the book of

John these days over the next several weeks, in fact, and we're going to dip our hand into the water that is the

great river of God's presence, God's promise and God's power in our lives. I've got a new book

that just came out. It's called You Are Never Alone. And it dies deep into this waterway. Today, I want us to take a cupful

right out of the first chapter of the Gospel of John. Let's chat for a bit about how Jesus

comes to us in the midst of our doubts. We're going to look in John chapter one and see two disciples with two

different paths to Jesus. Philip, on the one hand, was very eager to trust and follow Christ and

immediately told his friend Nathaniel about finding Jesus of Nazareth, the one whom Moses and the prophets had

promised the ones that they had written about. But when Nathaniel heard about Jesus, Nathaniel

was a little more hesitant, a little more cautious. Maybe he had some doubts. He didn't know

whether to believe in this carpenter from Nazareth. Gratefully, the answer given to the first

doubter is really the only answer necessary for all of us who doubt. When Nathaniel doubted that

anything good could come out of Nazareth, his words not mine, and Philip's response was simply

this. To his friend, he said, come and see, come and see. Nathaniel's question remains, can anything good come out of

Nazareth? Have two thousand years of Christianity changed this world? Is the life of the young
