Book Club. I am your host, John DeLin, and I'm very excited to have with us today author

and professor John G. Turner. He is the author of the brand new biography on Brigham Young,

entitled Brigham Young Pioneer Profit, and he's the feature today of Mormon Stories Book

Club. I also have joining us today the distinguished Morris Thurston. Morris is an attorney,

retired attorney. He lives in Orange County. He's been on Mormon Stories several times before. He's

also, I believe, the Chair-Elect of the Dialogue Foundation, active participant in Mormon Studies.

He was a participant on the Joseph Smith Papers Project, and he's done a lot in doing sort of legal

analyses of Proposition 8 and the Church's position on gay marriage. So John Turner, welcome to Mormon

Stories. Thanks for having me, John. Pleasure to be here. And Morris, welcome to you as well.

It's great to be here, John. Thanks. Okay, so I'm going to just so audience a couple things to note.

First of all, we've actually conducted this interview once already. We conducted it a week or two ago.

We had Heather Olson-Beele and Max Mueller on in addition to John Turner and Morris Thurston.

But the audio software actually didn't record the first hour and a half. And I feel horrible about

that, but the software just failed us. So we're going to take some precautions. But I want to give a

shout out to Max and Heather, especially Heather for planning and arranging this entire interview.

She's sort of taking the lead on Mormon Stories Book Club. And so I want to thank her and also
