Summary

On this outtro Jacob and Andrew are discussing their recent scouting trip to a more mountainous part of Alabama and what they found. The area is known for low deer densities but produces great bucks, so adjusting to the amount of sign the area had along with the more extreme terrain features made for an interesting scouting trip. Subjects include finding faint trails in lower deer density areas, reading rubs to determine what kind of deer made the rub, the patterns of buck sign they found, adjusting to scouting/hunting an area with a complete lack of pine thickets, how much of a factor oak species seems to play a factor in the area, some textbook buck beds they found and more! The reality for pretty much all of us is life is busy man and you got to hunt when you can.

0:04.6

You know we all got a job, maybe you got a job of wife, kids, whatever the case may be, time is limited.

0:09.6

If there's anything I've learned from a lot of these guests that we've had on in the past that you've got to make it count and you've got to be efficient.

0:15.5

One of the ways that I've been able to improve my efficiency drastically this year is by using the wind calendar feature on on X.

0:22.7

Basically the way it works, you drop a pin and you say I want to add a wind direction for this pin.

0:27.2

To hunt this I need a Southwest, South or Southeast wind.

0:31.6

So I add that to that pin and it automatically shows up as a little icon above that pin that tells me the wind direction and it shows up either green, red or orange.

0:40.6

Obviously green is good, orange is okay, red is bad.

0:43.8

So what this means is me having an 8 month old at home.

0:46.5

If I get three hours during the week, maybe after work or something to go get a quick hunt in, I can open my on X and instantly see which stands have a good wind form right now.

0:56.2

So that means I can grab my stuff and go.

0:58.4

I don't have to open four different apps to see the wind direction, I don't have to do any of that.

1:02.2

I can immediately see it on on X and I've already done all my planning beforehand so I can be efficient and as soon as I say okay looks like I got three or four hours to get out there real quick.

1:11.1

Boom, I'm gone and I'm going straight to that stand, I'm not wasting any time.

1:14.7

If you hunt like us and a lot of the guests on this show, you're probably kind of rough on gear.

1:33.8

I mean, I know that I've personally dropped my binoculars out of my tree stand before.

1:37.5

Well, in case something like that happens, Vortex Optics has you covered with their VIP warranty.

1:42.4

This has got to be one of my favorite parts about Vortex.

1:44.6

If you accidentally break your gear, they will repair or replace it. No questions asked.

1:50.0

It's also a lifetime warranty. So if you bought some binos, you know, 10 years ago and you break them this year, they will replace it.
