In a statement Monday, Secretary Kirsten Nielsen said,

It appears in some cases that the limited number of women and children

in the caravan are being used by the organizers as human shields when they confront law enforcement.

And DHS spokesman Katie Waldman asserted that there's a marked increase of men coming with minors and

In a statement Waldman said via the Washington examiner, in response to the misreporting

we have seen a hundred and ten percent increase in male adults showing up at the

border with minors. Well President Trump has taken heat for the use of tear gas on migrants trying to cross the

southern border, but it's worth pointing out that this method is nothing new.
