| 0:26.2 | Hey, everybody, welcome back to the show. We're here today, brand new mindset and motivation Monday for you. Can't wait to get into a few stoic-based quotes and philosophies that I love |
| 0:33.1 | to do my best to try to live by. They've worked for me. They've worked for my clients. Help get us out of some really challenging points in our life. And I think they'll do the same for you. So I want to dive into. This is my top five that I love to try to emulate to do my best to live by without becoming overly stressed if I'm not perfect because it's difficult for any one of us to be perfect |
| 0:54.6 | on a daily basis. But if we begin to live by these five quotes from Stoic-based philosophy, |
| 1:00.6 | then I think that we're going to be able to ride through the lows of our life, much easier, |
| 1:05.2 | and enjoy the highs. All right, let's get into it. The first one is this, live by virtue, |
| 1:10.3 | not validation. So I love this quote, |
| 1:13.6 | love this quote, live by virtue, not validation. And what it really means by, and it hits me |
| 1:18.2 | equally as hard as that character is who you are when no one else is watching. So think about it. |
| 1:25.2 | It's like, who are you really? Not who you post on social media, |
| 1:29.4 | not how you act when you're maybe in a group setting, but when you're by yourself, if you're, |
| 1:34.3 | you know, let's just say doing your work, doing your thing quietly, kind of without others |
| 1:39.1 | necessarily maybe for eight hours a day. Like, who are you during that time? Are you someone |
| 1:44.0 | that tries to put in the |
| 1:45.3 | minimum? Do you try to take shortcuts? Or do you do the right thing even when no one else is watching? |
| 1:52.1 | Do you do a little bit more that's asked of you? Like, who are you? How do you see yourself and then |
| 1:58.1 | act that out in life? This is, it's one of those ones that I've tried to live by for a long time. I mean, I started this show now back in 2016, but one of the first mindset of motivation Monday shows that I did was called The Slight Edge. And it was a book that was written many, many years ago. But the Slight Edge basically says, and I honestly try to live by this, is that, you know, most things in life are easy to do, but they're also easy not to do. For example, last night, I had a long day. It wasn't the worst day. It wasn't a bad day. It wasn't the greatest day. It was just, I was tired. It was a long day. But I still had what are called hill repeats. I had to run up this hill. |
| 2:35.2 | That was part of my workout for the day. |
| 2:36.6 | I had to run that hill eight times. |
