Anytime we plant a seed, it's an act of faith.

And I don't care how many years one has been gardening.

I think we all feel a sort of nervousness after we plant that seed as we're waiting

for it to sprout.

Often beginning gardeners think that this is the biggest hurdle, getting the seeds to emerge.

But I can tell you lack of germination while it does happen isn't nearly

as common as some other problems that occur after sprouting. And sadly, in many cases,

by the time we identify the problem, it's too late. Raise your hand if you've ever been there,

and you had to make the decision of whether you're going to keep nursing

the plant to hopefully help it get better, even though it really doesn't look all that healthy,

or you have to decide whether you're going to start over. It is not a fun place to be,
