Summary

On Day 3 of Closing the Year with Gratitude and Grace, we shift into GROUND—the practice of finding your footing before the new year arrives. If your mind has been looping through what happened this year (or racing ahead into what's next), this episode will bring you back into your body with a calming, science-backed breathing practice called Coherent Breathing (5 seconds in, 5 seconds out). You'll learn why grounding works—how slow, steady breathing supports your nervous system, quiets mental noise, and helps you feel safe enough to settle. Through a gentle shoreline story and an embodied guided meditation, you'll release the urge to "figure it all out" and instead reconnect with what's steady, true, and already within you. Perfect for year-end reflection, emotional regulation, anxiety relief, and New Year intention-setting.

This is day 3 of a 7-day meditation series, "Closing the Year with Gratitude and Grace Meditations," episodes 3437-3443.

ABOUT THIS WEEK'S MEDITATION JOURNEY:

Closing the Year with Gratitude & Grace is a 7-day year-end meditation series designed to help you gently release the past year, calm your nervous system, and enter the New Year with clarity, balance, and embodied peace. This daily meditation podcast series blends science-backed insight, storytelling, and guided practices to support emotional healing, stress relief, and mindful transition.

Recorded as a special bonus series and offered as a gift of gratitude, these meditations guide you through the natural arc of release, rest, grounding, protection, nurturing, balance, and embodiment. Each episode includes a short teaching followed by a guided meditation using techniques such as visualization, breathwork, affirmations, mudras, and heart-centered awareness.

Whether you're looking for a gratitude meditation, a New Year meditation, a nervous system reset, or a peaceful way to close the year with intention, this series offers calm, comfort, and timeless wisdom—perfect for Christmas, Hanukkah, and the final days of the year.

I welcome you to day three as you close out this year and usher in a brand new year.

And today, the arc that you'll be following to us. a brand new year and today.

0:29.7

The arc that you'll be following to help give yourself an emotional reset and you'll be doing that throughout this entire series is the part of the arc where you ground yourself.

0:40.8

Grounding is the bridge between rest and action. In yesterday's episode you were guided to rest. Rest restores you. Today, the focus is on grounding to stabilize you so you can think more clearly

1:02.7

and you can also feel safety and when you feel safe, you choose intentionally.

1:12.6

If release is setting down your heavy load and rest is repair,

1:21.6

then ground, as you're doing today, grounding yourself,

1:31.3

is like finding your footing again.

1:40.6

And this is what I invite you to do as you begin to plan for the new year. A lot of people try to close the year through the mind by making lists or setting

1:51.0

goals or by analyzing the past year. And this is helpful, but your nervous system closes the year through your body.

2:05.6

Do you feel safe?

2:08.6

Do you feel supported?

2:11.6

Do you have a base?

2:13.6

Grounding answers those questions without needing a single perfect thought.

2:21.3

So when you're unsettled, your brain tends to scan for what's next and what could go wrong.

2:31.9

That's not a type of character flaw. It's a type of protective biology.

Grounding works because it shifts you from a narrative mode where you might be ruminating. Maybe you

2:49.4

ruminate about things you regret doing this year. Or forecasting.

2:54.7

Maybe you're worrying already about the new year. Or you're replaying events again and again
