Hey, true crime besties, welcome back to an all new episode of Serialistly.

0:07.0

Hello. Hello, hello, hello, and welcome back to an all new episode of Serialessly with me, your host, Annie Elyse, your true crime bestie, here to break down everything that is going on this week in the true crime world. And I know that I say

0:39.1

it every week, but we have a lot that is going on this week. I don't know if people were just like

0:44.2

too much time on their hands from the long holiday weekend or what is going on, but there are

0:49.3

so many new cases that we need to talk about. But you know the drill. Before we get into all of the new

0:55.7

cases, we have to go through the updates and some new information that is coming out regarding

1:01.4

some previous cases that we've covered. And joining me today to nobody's surprise in the entire

1:06.7

world is Amy. She is back and welcome. Thanks. Good morning. Good morning. So we're going to start

1:13.2

with some updates and I know you have an update that you're going to share. But first, I have two

1:18.0

updates that I want to share with you guys about like some of the sleesiest men that I think I have

1:24.3

ever, I don't want to say encountered, because luckily I've never had to see

1:27.5

these pieces of shit, but that I've ever covered. And we're going to start with Alex Murdoch.

1:33.1

Now, you guys know his name. You probably have seen the Lifetime movie, the documentary,

1:39.0

the trial, all of these things. But here's why I'm bringing his douche canoe face up again. He has filed an

1:46.3

appeal for a new trial, and there is now going to be a hearing for that, and it has been set for

1:52.3

February 11, 2026. So the South Carolina Supreme Court is going to hear his appeal for his double

1:59.3

murder convictions just in a couple of months.

2:02.0

Now, his defense team is arguing that the conviction should be overturned due to alleged jury

2:07.8

tampering by the former court clerk, which if you remember that whole debacle, she was like

2:12.4

writing a book. It was what was her name, Becky Hill, I believe. It was like this whole thing.

2:17.4

They also are going to be arguing the improper admission of evidence that is related to the financial crimes of all of it and also investigative failures. As a reminder, if you have not followed that case, which I feel like it's kind of like the name everybody knows. Everybody, I feel, knows about the case in one way or another.

2:35.2

But he was convicted back in March of 2023 for murdering his wife, Maggie, and his son, Paul.
