For a lot of years, like after Finding Ultra came out, like we had a really hard

financial time trying to figure out how to put food on the table and pay the

bills and it was incredibly difficult.

I looked back on it now with, it was emasculating, too,

you know, I have to say.

And there were plenty of times where I thought about going back

to being a lawyer. And it was Julie who said you can't go

backwards you have to go forwards and she was able to summon you know the fortitude in the

faith when I lacked it but now I look back on that time and I think that I needed to like

burn a little bit more in order to emerge out of it a little bit more whole than perhaps I thought I was at the time.

Hey there at the end of the tunnel listeners, it's your host Light Watkins and we are

back with another story behind the story of a changemaker who I consider to be

one of my podcast role models. His name is Rich Roll. Maybe you've heard the

Rich Roll podcast and if you're already a fan then maybe you also know a little bit

about Rich's backstory of being a champion swimmer,

turned alcoholic, turned lawyer who ended up having a few run-ins with the law himself.

And long story short, Rich hit hit rock bottom but then he clawed his way towards

sobriety and after going through the recovery process he began putting the

pieces of his life back together only to realize that he was out of shape and burning the candle at both ends.

And essentially, Rich was hitting rock bottom physically, particularly after one night when he could barely catch his breath

while attempting to walk up a flight of stairs in his own home.

So in his 40s, he dusted off his swim trunks and he started trading again.
