Matthew 25: 1-13 -'The wise and foolish virgins.'

- 672 (in 'Until all things are subjected to him') - According to the Lord, the present time is the time of the Spirit and of witness, but also a time still marked by "distress" and the trial of evil which does not spare the Church and ushers in the struggles of the last days. 0:16.2	exegesis of Scripture. And today we're going to look at Matthew chapter 25 verses 1 to 13. And this
0:23.6	follows right on from the previous days, if you've been listening, we're at the end of Matthew
0:27.9	chapter 24. So Matthew chapter 25 today versus 1 to 13. Let's start by reading the text and then we'll
0:35.1	dive into it a bit. Jesus told this parable to his disciples.
0:40.3	The kingdom of heaven will be like this.
0:43.3	Ten bridesmaids took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom.
0:48.3	Five of them were foolish and five were sensible.
0:51.3	The foolish ones did take their lamps, but they brought no oil,
0:56.2	whereas the sensible ones took flasks of oil as well as their lamps. The bridegroom was late,
1:02.9	and they all grew drowsy and fell asleep. But at midnight there was a cry. The bridegroom is here.
1:10.5	Go out and meet him.
1:12.7	At this, all those bridesmaids woke up and trimmed their lamps and the foolish ones said to the sensible ones,
1:19.3	Give us some of your oil. Our lamps are going out. But they replied,
1:25.1	There may not be enough for us and for you. You had better go to those who sell it and buy some for yourselves.
1:32.5	They had gone off to buy it when the bridegroom arrived.

1:42.2	The other bridesmaids arrived later. Lord, Lord, they said, open the door was closed. The other bridesmaids arrived later.
1:45.0	Lord, Lord, they said, open the door for us.
1:49.0	But he replied, I tell you solemnly, I do not know you.
1:54.0	So stay awake because you do not know either the day or the hour.
2:06.2	So Jesus has just been telling his disciples prior to this that he will return.
