She's worked as a staff writer and story editor on The Expanse,

And she also co-wrote a graphic novel called The Expance Origins, which explores the backstories of some of the show's major characters.

Okay, so it says in your bio that you came to Los Angeles when you were 17 to pursue acting, writing, and producing.

So just tell us a bit about what that was like

and what your goals were at that time.

I had transferred out of University of Washington.

I was there for a very short time studying journalism and

initially I basically just wanted to get to the Sun in Southern California and

I had heard that they had some good, you know, journalism programs at Chapman.

And so I ended up transferring there into the journalism program, broadcast journalism. I had to take a screenwriting class.

And when I was in the class, I was like,

oh my gosh, this is it.

I want to do screenwriting.

Because growing up, I grew up in a small town outside of Seattle and the idea of

writing for television or movies never even occurred to me that that was like a job a
