Summary

In this episode, I am joined by American Gospel director Brandon Kimber to analyze troubling comments made by Jenn Johnson of Bethel Church.Jenn Johnson has described the Holy Spirit as the “blue genie from Aladdin”—and this wasn’t just a one-time slip. We demonstrate how she has repeated this imagery more than once, while also promoting concerning views on the Bible and truth itself. Claiming that Scripture has contradictions, she has taught that truth is relative, like “shades of grey.” Even more troubling, her methodology for knowing God is subjective—teaching that Christians must each ask God who He is to them personally, as if His nature shifts from person to person rather than being revealed once for all in His Word.We also analyze the audio of Michael Brown asking Bill Johnson directly about these “blue genie” comments. What we find is not repentance, but damage control. And even today, the original videos of Jenn Johnson making these statements remain live on Bethel TV.We unpack why this matters, how these ideas directly conflict with the historic Christian gospel, and why believers must remain anchored in the unchanging Truth of God’s Word.------------------------------------------------------------------This video is sponsored by:BRAVE BOOKSEntertainment that Engages the Imagination for Good. She's basically saying, not basically, she's outright saying that morality is subjective.

So what we should or shouldn't do, what is right or what is wrong, is actually just a matter of opinion.

0:11.8

So you ask the Holy Spirit, and he'll reveal to you what is right.

0:15.6

All of this is really just kind of throwing away truth.

0:18.6

We can't know what the truth is. And now we got to rely

0:22.6

on the Holy Spirit, just our own subjective sense of what we think the Holy Spirit is saying. Now,

0:31.1

what happens when you and I have opposite opinions about what our Holy Spirits are telling us.

0:38.7

Right.

0:39.3

Then how do we resolve that?

0:41.4

It's not, you can't have a church that's unified around the gospel with this view at all. Well, hey everyone.

kindness, and truth. And today's episode has to do with an attribute of God.

1:20.3

That has been eroded, kind of questioned through Bethel Church, and more specifically,

1:24.5

Jen Johnson, who's one of the main worship leaders at Bethel Church. Maybe you've seen the viral clip of her saying that the Holy Spirit is like the genie

from Aladdin, that he's blue, that he's sneaky, that he's kind of different for different

people. Well, today's episode, we're going to dive deep into the context of when she said that,

1:39.8

actually how many times she said that, what she said about the Holy Spirit, about the nature of God,

and ultimately about the nature of truth as it's revealed in God's word. I was actually very surprised
