originally baptized the first Catholics, the first Christians in the city of Rome.

This is something part of our patrimony, part of our tradition as Catholic Christians. We have always

venerated the sacred images of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Saints,

and we give them true veneration because we believe at the 7th

Ecumenical Council as it's taught that the veneration that we give these images passes on

difference so but when it comes to idols when it comes to images which are not our Lord Jesus Christ, which are not the Blessed

Catholics have always had an abhorrence. They have shuttered at the sight of idols and yes they have destroyed the idols in the history of the church. This goes back of course to the Old Testament where Moses commands the people to destroy the idols of the Canaanites also we see for example

Elias aka Elijah he destroys idols he even puts to death the priests of the

idolatres so this continues on into the new Testament there's two great

stories about this one is St. Boniface cutting down the sacred oak.

And the other one is St. Benedict, the founder of the Benedictines. He also destroyed a shrine and an idol.
