Kev Healy spent years on the front line as a specialist firearms officer with SO19 — the Met’s elite armed unit. In this episode, he lifts the lid on what really goes on behind the scenes: high-speed chases, armed stand-offs, and the harsh realities of life in the UK police. Kev doesn’t hold back as he exposes the cracks in the system — and shares what it takes to operate at a level that few ever reach. SO19 isn’t just any unit — it’s a role few are selected for, and even fewer pass.
This is the eventful life of Mr Kev Healy

Let's roll all the way back. What's it like roaming the streets of London with a machine gun? Right. Well, how can I put it? S-O-9 team was, for me, starting in 2003. We went out in the cars. And for me, it was the best career move I ever made. I said 18 years, I couldn't leave. I just absolutely loved getting up in the morning. And it is unique. There's no other job like it. You come to work, you put your uniform on, and then you load your guns. You load your Glock, your MP5 as it was in 2003. And you get on a car with two of your mates, and you drive around for eight hours, 10 hours, 12 hours, and you just laugh in all day. It's just three blokes in a car, all girls, you know, the department's involved, you used to just be mostly men, but there are a lot of girls and you just drive around london and all you're waiting for the the magic words of uh any trojan |
