Karnam Tammnamamamamamamamamam So we are studying this text Aparokshanubhuti and we are actually towards the end, almost at the climax of the text, the author Shankaracharya has prescribed meditation.

And this meditation which he prescribes has 15 practices.

15 practices.

We read in the verses 100 and 100 and 102 and 103 the practices themselves the list

I'll give you the list once more you will notice that all the practices are taken from

hata yoga the names are from hata yoga from patanali Yoga, the yoga of meditation and Hata yoga.

So from different practices of yoga, these names have been taken.

But Shankaracharya gives each of these practices a twist, a Vedantic interpretation, a non-dualistic interpretation.

So what's going to happen now is we will take up each of these 15 practices and try to

understand them. First, in their original yogic meaning, one.

And second, in the higher interpretation given by Shankaracharya from a non-dualistic point

of view.

Now remember, sometimes Shankaracharya can seem sarcastic about the basic yogic meaning

of the term.

But that does not mean he's making fun of that.

There is great wisdom in those practices.

Those practices are foundational, they are basic.
