Hello and welcome to a special episode of the Two Robbies podcast. In today's show

we're going to take an in-depth look at one of England's fiercest football

rivalries, the Manchester Derby, but today's story will extend far beyond the pitch, when a proud footballing city

abandoned its passionate sporting tribalism for unity and togetherness after the city of

Manchester was attacked by a senseless act of terrorism on May 22nd, 2017.

What started as a fun night for thousands of young people excited to see their pop idol in concert

turned into a nightmare for so many innocent families.

When it was over 22 dead, many more injured.

Here to help us tell these stories are two individuals with deep Manchester roots.

We'll hear from former Manchester United Defender Phil Neville in a little bit, but first up is Steve Bauer,

a current Premier League commentator and a former presenter of Manchester United's

in-house television network.

I've lived in the northwest of England all my life.

And went to Manchester in my early 20s to work on the radio there and then went on to work

for the club and the club television channel for 10 years and obviously lived there and covered

Manchester United and Manchester City on the radio and 26 years of broadcasting

so certainly a city and and two clubs in an area that I know pretty well.

One of the players that Steve covered during his years at Manchester United was

Defender Phil Neville, a member of the famed class of 92,

along with David Beckham, Ryan Giggs, Paul Skoles, Nicki Butt and Brother Gary.
