With the five things you need to know for Tuesday, June 18th.

Much of the US could see temperatures at or above 90 degrees this week.

A heat wave is building across the Midwest and northeast,

lingering through the weekend and likely into early next week. Meanwhile, strong winds caused

wildfires in New Mexico to explode in size, prompting thousands of evacuations.

The South Fork Fire and the Salt's Fire are scorching thousands of acres, and winds are expected

to get stronger tomorrow.

Officials say the fires are tearing through a New Mexico

Tribal Reservation and converging on a village quote like a pair of tongs. This as

firefighters face challenges battling wildfires in California.

Captain Marco Rodriguez of the LA County Fire Department

spoke about the difficulties with the post fire,

which has burned through more than 15,000 acres,

and is 24% contained.

What we're seeing down here at the lower part of the fire,

southern part of the fire, is a lot of rugged terrain,

really difficult to access. We're going to be putting some crews on boats

and trying to get them up to this side here and try to attack this part of the fire with direct attack.

Two key Democrats in Congress have given their approval to allow the Biden administration to send a military package to Israel that includes F-15 fighter jets.

Representative Gregory Meeks and Senator Ben Carden signed off on the more than 18 billion dollar package,

which is believed to be the biggest weapons package for Israel.
