0:19.8	John chapter 10, verse 7. So Jesus again said to them, truly, truly I say to you,
0:25.6	I am the door of the sheep. All who came before me are thieves and robbers. But the sheep did not
0:32.7	listen to them. I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved, and I will go in and out and find pasture.
0:42.4	The thief comes only to steal and kill and to destroy. But I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
0:49.9	I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. You see, Jesus wants us to know
0:58.1	that he is our good shepherd, that we have an enemy and his vision statement is right here in our
1:03.8	Bible, that the only thing that the enemy has come to do is to steal. He's a thief. And he only wants to steal and kill and destroy.
1:14.3	But Jesus, the good shepherd, has offered us abundant life. And abundant life does not mean an abundance
1:19.5	of stuff. It doesn't mean an abundance of possession. We know this because in the very next verse,
1:24.9	what he's saying is abundant life is found in him and he is the good shepherd.
1:29.9	But what I find interesting about this text is that Jesus, after establishing that he is the good shepherd,
1:37.2	he makes this qualification.
1:39.9	He says that my sheep do not listen to the thief and the robbers, but my sheep hear my voice and they follow me.
1:48.2	You see, the matter of the Christian life, the matter of what it means to follow Jesus, is way more than right and wrong.
1:56.8	In fact, if you just try to do right and try not to do wrong, it will never be enough to sustain you.
2:03.1	We've got to quit thinking that being a Christian is some sort of moralistic therapeutic deism where we just try to white knuckle the bad things in our life and quit doing them.
2:14.3	Right and wrong won't sustain us.
