There's a pleasant, cool breeze, though, which seems to ease the thick humidity somewhat.

Beads of sweat that feel biggest marbles are forming on my forehead, and my mouth is parched bone dry.

I need to find something to drink before I turn to dust.

The corn plants surround me rustle in the wind.

A gentle gust caresses my face, leaving the accurate heat, if only for a second.

Above me, stars, now long dead, twinkle brilliantly in a night sky free from light pollution.

The moon is full and bright and grants enough light to see my surroundings now that my eyes have adjusted to the gloom.
